Admission Policy

Admission

Normally students whose educational needs can be served by the MKCHS faculty and

who apply to Kelly are admitted. The normal time for application is in the winter of

eighth grade in order to enter the freshman class the following fall. Late applicants who

are qualified students may be admitted on a space available basis.

Acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of eighth grade. Students whose

records show low achievement and/or failing grades may be required to attend an

accredited summer school program before admission is finalized or may be placed or

admitted on academic probation.

Transfer Students

Ordinarily, students from local high schools are not admitted into the senior year.

Ordinarily, students are only accepted at the beginning of a semester.

Ordinarily, students who seek to repeat a year are not eligible for admission.

Ordinarily, students are not admitted unless they are at the appropriate age for their

grade level.

Students must have sufficient credits and courses to meet the school’s

standards for the grade into which they seek entrance.

Students must be in good standing with their former school, especially

regarding financial obligations, conduct, and attendance.

Students are put on a waiting list or probation until the academic records have been

received from the previous school. Academic records brought by the registering student

are not considered official.

Acceptance is contingent upon available space.

The Admissions Committee makes decisions on admissions.

All admissions, whether as an incoming freshman or a transfer student, are considered

probationary and may be revoked if academics, behavior, financial or other difficulties

become apparent.

MKCHS admits students without regard to gender, race, creed or National or ethnic

origin. Non-Catholic students are admitted provided they, and their parents/guardians,

are willing to subscribe to the religious philosophy and program of the school. Priority is

given to non-Catholic students entering from the feeder schools. Non-Catholic students

from other schools are admitted on a space available basis.
