Peer Counselors

----Peer counselors are a group of students that come together to

help out their fellow students deal with issues that they are facing

in their lives today.

Each student is hand picked for their abilities to help the student

body solve their problems and by being approachable. This allows the

student to feel more comfortable talking to someone that is close in

age and understands what the student is going through.

----A peer counselor is there to help a student that maybe

dealing with issues with their family, drugs/alcohol addiction, abuse,

divorce, peer pressure, or relationships. All peer counselors must keep

all counseling sessions confidential unless the student is harming

themselves or harming others. If a student is harming themselves

and others, at this point the peer counselor must immediately

notify one of the faculty members and the faculty will then seek

more direct help.

----The peer counselors must show honor, good character,

trustworthiness, fair, show honesty, be a good listener, faithful,

dependable, safe, sympathetic, and help the student make

good decisions and explore new possiblities.

----All students seeking help must come into the counseling

office to sign up for a counseling session. All peer counselors make

appointments for the student to come in for counseling.

Most counseling session take place either before or after school

hours and under certain circumstances, if a student is need

of counseling during school hours, special arrangements will

be made.

If there are any students that have any questions about getting

involved in peer counseling, you may contact one of the counselors
