Achievement
The curriculum
supports students of all academic levels. All students take
the
SAT and/or
ACT exam and score above the state and national averages.
Monsignor Kelly
has had more students recognized as National Merit Scholars
than any school
in the Golden Triangle. The curriculum supports the
preparation
of students of the highest academic ranking and has led to
a well-
respected reputation
among colleges and universities across the nation.
Monsignor Kelly
considers a university preparation in the liberal arts to
be
essential and
attainable by students of all levels of ability. Therefore,
students
from all academic
levels are accepted. While there are no special education
courses offered,
the Challenge Program is provided for freshmen that might
need additional
preparation. Recently, the counseling office was remodeled
to
include distraction-free
testing rooms. Students of all levels do so well that 99
percent are
admitted to colleges and universities.
Students are continually recognized for outstanding academic
achievements.
They are winners
of the Texas Christian Interscholastic League Academic Rally,
the Texaco
Academic Challenge, and the Channel 6 Academic Challenge.
Among many
other awards, a Kelly student was the first in the 30-year
history
of the Houston
Science Engineering Fair to win the Grand Award three
consecutive
years. Currently, Kelly students are represented at all four
military
academies.
